Terrible nouvelle. On vient d'apprendre le décès de Taylor Hawkins, batteur de FOO FIGHTERS et, accessoirement, meilleur ami de Dave Grohl qui le considérait comme « [son] jumeau, [son] complice ». Selon Rolling Stone, son corps sans vie aurait été retrouvé dans sa chambre d'hôtel de Bogota, en Colombie, où le groupe devait donner un concert hier soir, vendredi 25 mars. Célèbre pour son jeu déjanté, son immense sourire et sa bonne humeur communicative, Taylor avait 50 ans. La tournée est bien entendu annulée.
D'abord batteur d'Alanis Morissette lorsque cette dernière a littéralement explosé avec « Jagged Little Pill », Hawkins a rejoint FOO FIGHTERS en 1997 et fait ses débuts officiels sur le troisième album, « Nothing Left To Lose », sorti deux ans plus tard. Ce qui ne l'empêchait pas de prendre de temps en temps le micro, comme en 2005 sur “Cold Day In The Sun” ou sur “Sunday Rain” en 2017. Ou encore en concert, quand il reprenait du QUEEN (“Under Pressure” ou “Somebody To Love”). Il a également mené, parallèlement à FOO FIGHTERS, une carrière solo avec Taylor Hawkins AND THE COATTAIL RIDERS, qui a sorti 3 albums, ainsi que sous le nom de THE BIRDS OF SATAN. Sans oublier NHC, formé pendant la pandémie, avec à ses côtés Dave Navarro et Chris Channey, bassiste de JANE'S ADDICTION et déjà COATTAIL RIDER(S).
Il laisse derrière lui sa femme et leurs trois enfants.
